Copywriting For Product Descriptions

Ecommerce copywriting serves a dual purposes: to convince search engines your website is worthy so they send you visitors and to convince visitors your product is worth investing their money into

Competition has dramatically increased in the modern business world, as new and advanced marketing methods are introduced. Regardless of the technique used to promote a product, a business has to convince the reader that their product is the best and show that it would benefit the buyer. This makes copywriting an important aspect of any marketing campaign.
Writing a copy for your product is very powerful and more effective compared to hiring salespersons. The copy reaches many readers at once, but a salesperson has to target one customer at a time.
Carefully selecting and putting words together to describe a product requires skill. You should come up with content that leaves a potential with only one option; which is to buy the product you are advertising.
If you plan on writing a killer copy for a new product, there are some things that you must cover on your product page. They include:

Description of the product

You do not have to go into intricate details about a product at this level. Use a few sentences that can give an overview of the product. Your choice of words should help the customer in creating a mental picture of the product.
Highlight the uniqueness of the product
A unique product has higher chances of selling. Remember that your product will be competing with other similar products that can even substitute. If you do not show your potential customers how your product is unique from others in the market, you are less likely to turn them into sales.

What are the benefits of the product?

Apart from being unique, the product has to benefit the customers. One way that you can clearly show the benefits of your product is by listing all its features or ingredients and stating their benefits. If your product has numerous features, you can briefly summarize the benefit of each to avoid boring your customer with a lot of words.
It is important to remember that for most customers, how each feature benefits them, is more important compared to the number of features the product.

Show how the product alleviates their pain

A customer will only buy a product if it makes their life more comfortable or reduces the pain point they are dealing with. If you are selling skincare product, you could use words like “are you tired of cranky and itchy skin?” this question identifies the pain point that the customer is going through, and be sure also to indicate how your product can alleviate such suffering.
Showing how a product can increase their happiness can also work when promoting a product, but it has been proven that focusing on pain points sells more.
Apart from focusing on the product, you should also ensure that your copy the following features:
·       Short paragraphs that deliver every point. It is difficult to decipher through very long paragraphs, and most customers will not read such a copy.
·       Focus on your customers. It is important to remember that you are writing the copy for your customers. You should therefore ensure that whatever you are delivering is what the customer would like to hear and not what you would want to pass to the reader.
With the above tips, you can rest assured that you will come up with an amazing copy that will sell your product.
